Murlo and Wildlife! Take Dembow Riddims into the Club on "Control"

The first cut off a collaborative EP from Brooklyn's Mixpak Records and Berlin's Man Recordings.

Paris and Nicole.

Harry and Ron.

Gin and tonic.

Some things just make perfect sense together. Now add this to the list: Mixpak Records and Man Recordings. Brooklyn-based Mixpak is a proud proponent of Caribbean music, while Man Recordings is dedicated to electronic music coming out of the Southern Hemisphere—so you know good things are going to happen when they get together. This month, team players from both labels reached across the Atlantic for a five-track collaborative release called Pak Man, out on October 28.

Off the EP, we're premiering "Control" by Mixpak's Murlo and Man Recording's Wildlife!. The club track pulses with dembow riddims and melodic diva vocals, with references to grime and jacking house. The collab was done over file exchanges and Skype sessions; Wildlife! came up with the percussion ideas, while Murlo hit him with a million synth lines to choose from. "Obviously they were all super sick, so deciding which melody lines to use was probably the hardest part," Wildlife! says. Suuuuper sick.
