Like most people, DJs and producers have specific songs tied to events throughout their lives. In Crate Expectations, we extract a playlist from their memories to tell their story. This week's subject: Timo Maas.

What's the first song you ever loved?
I'm not 100 percent sure but it might be Jonzun Crew's "Pack Jam." I obviously liked music before that already, but that track was so out there, I loved it big time!

What are the first two songs you ever mixed together?
Oliver Cheatham's "Get Down Saturday Night" and Patrice Rushen's "Forget Me Nots." I'm pretty sure, but I was learning generally with singles that had a lot of funk, soul and disco—all early '80s music.

What is your worst guilty pleasure song?
Oh, that. I'm sorry to say, it must be Shaggy's "Mr. Boombastic"... don't even ask me why, I love it!

What song have you had on repeat in the last month?
One of my new tracks from the forthcoming Crossing Wires 002 compilation "Watching The Robots." I've been working on it with Santos for quite some time now and I love the trip a lot!

Which track of your own do you love the most?
Maybe "Shifter" but I love most of my tracks. Or "Help Me" and the "Depeche Remix!"

What track of your own do you hate the most?
The "Azzido da Bass Remix,"well it's love and hate together. I usually call it the spot on the arse of my career... it always comes back!

What track are you most excited to drop during peak time at the Crossing Wires tour stop in Montreal?
All the tracks from the new album Crossing Wires 002. It's incredible material and I am very thankful to my colleagues sending me so much amazing music.

What's the last song you want to hear before the lights go on?
A classic Led Zeppelin track, "Whole Lotta Love" because I'm old school!

What's the last song you want to hear before you die?
Roy Ayers' "Everybody Loves The Sunshine" simply because it's a wonderful song!

You can catch Timo on the rest of his Crossing Wires tour:

May 10, New York, NY @ Sankeys
