Police suspended London nightclub fabric's license last week pending an investigation of the suspected drug-related deaths of two 18-year-olds. The suspension is effective immediately and the club will remain closed until a review has been conducted within the next 28 days. The license suspension follows a previous announcement from the club that it would close its doors for the weekend following the two deaths.

On June 25, emergency services were called to the club when an 18-year-old man collapsed. He later died in the hospital. Another 18-year-old man died on August 6 after "becoming unwell" outside of the venue. Although the causes of both deaths have not yet been identified, statements from fabric and the Metropolitan Police suggest both deaths were drug-related. In a press statement sent to THUMP, the Metropolitan Police said: "Officers felt the need to act due to concerns about the safety of those attending the club because of the supply of class A drugs in the venue and the recent deaths of two young men linked to the club."

Islington police submitted an application to Islington Council for a summary review of the club's license on August 10. The Licensing Sub Committee has suspended the club's license as "an interim measure, pending a full review hearing."

Fabric did not respond to THUMP's request for comment.
