Movement Festival Announces Phase 3 of Their Lineup

THUMP has the drop on the latest slew of artists added to the legendary Detroit festival.

Over the years, Detroit has kept the music alive, thanks in part to one of the city's most cherished institutions—Movement Festival. Since 2001, this massive celebration of electronic music has been taking over Hart Plaza in the center of the city, and in recent years it's become an international techno mecca, sparking pilgrimages from across the world to pay tribute to the genre's birthplace. This year is certainly no different and as thrilled as we were to gossip like techno grannies over phase two of the lineup, we're even more amped to be the first to announce what's going on in phase three.

This exciting announement starts off with the addition of the legendary Detroit techno collective Underground Resistance as headliners of the festival. Group founder, Mike "Mad Mike" Banks, keyboardist Jon Dixon, sax-man DeSean Jones and DJ Mark Flash will perform Timeline—an excursion through the past and present of "hi-tech jazz"—their signature mixture of techno and jazz elements. "What you will be seeing on stage is the future of Detroit," says Banks. "Jon Dixon and DeSean Jones have taken UR's hi-tech jazz sound to a new level. This is the future of jazz!" he adds.

In addition, the awesome folks at Paxahu Events, the producers of the annual Memorial Day weekend event, will be adding a live performance by Ghostly International duo Benoit & Sergio, a DJ set from BBC Radio 1 resident and Movement favorite, Heidi, as well as some massive performances from Hot Creation honcho Lee Foss and the state's globe-trotting prodigal son, Seth Troxler.

Among these additions are 24 more exciting acts, including an impressive offering of live sets and an appearance from dubstep legend-turned-disco dude, Skream. Read below for the full list of artists appearing in phase three and be sure to grab your ticket for one of the most beloved festival around.
