Oakland producer and DJ, 8ULENTINA, has partnered up with Paris and Watford, UK-based label Tobago Tracks to present DISMISS U, an experimental, club-ready compilation featuring tracks from its curator alongside co-conspirators foozool, DJ Haram, Kibz Selcuk, Maeili, Mohini, and Nargiz. The release explores a range of production styles, deconstructive approaches to sound, and sampling tendencies, and "centers a feminine perspective within the non western diaspora," said Esra Canoğulları in an interview published by Dummy.

"'DISMISS U' approaches sound/noise experimentation and diaspora narratives from an expansive yet dismissive perspective," they further explain. "The producers on this compilation dismiss borders and boundaries set by western standards. It's a sonic dialogue highlighting difference within the diaspora in resistance to generalisations and false notions of solidarity."

The compilation is out now on Tobago tracks and is available for purchase on their Bandcamp.

Just a couple days ago 8ULENTINA made a characteristically enthralling and wide-ranging mix for THUMP Brazil, while month, DJ Haram shared a terrific Jersey-indebted track called "Birds of paradise" that's definitively not a "delicate flower" of a song—rather, it's "like when you're crying tears of vindictive joy."
