Gorillaz to Launch Interactive Installations in Three Global Cities

The multimedia spaces are named after their recent music video collaboration with Popcaan.

Cartoon superstars Gorillaz today announced that they would construct interactive audiovisual in three cities around the globe in support of their upcoming album Humanz. Set in Brooklyn, Berlin, and Amsterdam, the group will create three pop-up "spirit houses"—named after the subtitle of their recent music video for "Saturnz Barz" with dancehall artist Popcaan.

Gorillaz co-founder Jamie Hewlett directed the "Saturnz Barz (Spirit House)" video, and it depicts the band in a dreamlike haunted house scenario being stalked by monsters and being transported to outer space.

The temporary spaces will feature custom artwork, digital projects, and new Gorillaz music; they will take place in Brooklyn from April 21–23, Berlin from April 28–30, and Amsterdam on May 6. The first two require fans to RSVP on Sonos' website, while the Netherlands location will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Damon Albarn and Hewlett's project performed its first live show in five years on March 24, and they played a score of unreleased tracks alongside the band's well-known classics.

Humanz will be released on April 28 and is available for preorder on the band's website.
