Watch a Teaser For the Laurel Halo Collaboration With Virtual Pop Star Hatsune Miku

"Still Be Here" will make its debut in Berlin next month.

Back in December, we reported that avant-dance provocateur, Laurel Halo, had announced a collaboration with arguably the most famous hologram in the world, Japanese Vocaloid pop star, Hatsune Miku.

The project, Still Be Here, will make its live debut at this year's CTM Festival in Berlin on February 5 and 6. Initially conceived of by artist Mari Matsutoya, Still Be Here is scored by Halo, who joins a band of arts that include choreographer and visual artist Darren Johnston, virtual artist LaTurbo Avedon and digital artist Martin Sulzer in a "search for the identity of Hatsune Miku," according to the press release.

Still Be Here, the release goes on to say, "investigates the realities of a 21st-century pop star," and "traces the dynamics at play between fans, corporations and social desires." If that doesn't bite the capitalistic tail hard enough for you, the work will also include "user-generated language" such as internet forum commentary will also be included. This should be interesting.

The show will then travel to Austria's Donaufestival and London's Barbican later in the year.

In anticipation of the live show, CTM has a short teaser video. It's brief and strobey, but it gets its point across: this will be one epic performance.
