Ikonika Went B2B with Promise On Radar, London's Dopest New Radio Station

One of Hyperdub's finest stepped up alongside Promise for two hours of fire.

Radar Radio is undoubtedly one of of the most exciting things to happen in London in recent years. Run out of a studio just off Old Street, it's like NTS with more grime and club music and less Ethiopian jazz and field recordings of Portuguese modern art museums. No disrespect to NTS, obviously. The schedules are stuffed daily with emerging talent—young DJs being given a chance to shine—and the occasional more established head rolling through — think DJ Taye, Rushmore, Riz La Teef, or Akito. It's a genuinely exciting station, and not just because of 2Shin's near the knuckle late breakfast show, which in itself is a contender for the best thing to happen to UK broadcasting in 2015. It hums with energy, excitement, and vitality.

Last night the DJ only known to us as Promise rolled through Radar with a very special guest for two hours of B2B madness. Hyperdub's very own Ikonika stepped up to the decks and the pair of them ripped through a massive selection of R&B, southern rap, G-funk, Mario Winans, peak time 2-step, metallic club music, grime, bassline bangers, and lots, lots more. Check out the whole thing below. Fuck it, it's Friday: get yourself a nice meal deal for lunch and do fuck all work with this as your soundtrack. The cheeky chocolate bar's on Promise and Ikonika.
