Moogfest Announces Schedule for 2017 Edition

The festival's promoters also shared details about expansive selection of workshops and events being hosted at the festival.

North Carolina multimedia festival Moogfest today announced the full four-day schedule for its 2017 edition, and also released expanded descriptions for the first time of the conversations and workshops set to take place.

Ambient music legend Laraaji will do a workshop on laughter meditation and his eight-hour celestial sleep concert, renowned Detroit producer K-HAND will teach a DJ seminar for kids, and Sacred Bones-affiliated industrial musician Pharmakon will teach a class on how to use contact microphones. Moor Mother and Afrofuturist Affair will also present a workshop combining futurist theoretical approaches, quantum physics, and Black and African diasporic cultural traditions.

Meanwhile, Ableton Live founder Gerhard Behles will teach a masterclass on the democratization of tools for music production, veteran DJs Greg Belson and Peanut Butter Wolf will give a lecture their approach to their craft, and Mykki Blanco will give a presentation on protest music. UNC music and technology professor Dr. Mark Katz will also lead a conversation on using music to advance social and political causes.

Moogfest will take place this year in its usual location of, North Carolinafrom May 18–21, and feature performances from headliners including Flying Lotus, Suzanne Ciani, and Animal Collective.
