Watch an Exclusive Clip from a New Morton Subotnick Doc

The electronic pioneer discusses the making of his 1967 classic 'Silver Apples of the Moon' in this scene from Waveshaper's forthcoming film.

With 2017 marking the 50th anniversary of Morton Subotnick's classic 1967 album Silver Apples of the Moon, there's a new film on the way about the groundbreaking American electronic musician.

Produced by Waveshaper Media, the Canadian company behind 2014's modular synthesizer documentary I Dream of Wires and the upcoming Bob Moog bio-doc Electronic Voyager, Subotnick: Portrait of an Electronic Music Pioneer looks at the 84-year-old avant-garde composer's career through interviews and archival photos.

Today THUMP's premiering an exclusive clip from the film, which features Subotnick revisiting the New York building where he made Silver Apples of the Moon, using the now-legendary Buchla synthesizer. Originally released by influential NY imprint Nonesuch, it was the first electronic album ever to be commissioned by a classical music label.

Waveshaper are currently running an Indiegogo campaign to crowdfund the doc, which runs for the next 23 days. Watch the scene above, and check out a trailer below.
