In 1997, French duo Daft Punk released their seminal debut album Homework, home to still-celebrated singles such as "Da Funk" and "Around the World." Also appearing on the LP was the track "Teachers," its lyrics consisting entirely of shout-outs to the pair's influences, from George Clinton and Dr. Dre to Jeff Mills and Robert Hood.

Two decades later, Boiler Room is marking the 20th anniversary of Homework with a tribute event set to take place at Chicago's Smartbar on January 28. The hometown talent on the bill are all also mentioned in "Teachers," too, including Glenn Underground, Paul Johnson, Boo Williams, and Mike Dearborn, as well as DJ Pierre and DJ Hyperactive going back-to-back. Opening the night will be special guest Ron Trent—who's actually not named in the track, but as Boiler Room write on their website, "he really should have been named… anyway."

The event comes on the heels of ever-swirling rumors surrounding Daft Punk's supposed return. Weeks after popping up (twice) on The Weeknd's new album, a new photo posted to their Instagram, combined with mysterious YouTube videos and Reddit's constant super-sleuthing, supposedly hint at an ALIVE 2017 tour—another 20th anniversary special nodding to their first ALIVE tour in 1997. Real or fake? Boiler Room certainly aren't holding their breaths: "If the robots won't do Alive 2017, then Teachers 2017 is the next best thing on earth."

Tickets for Teachers: A Chicago Tribute to Daft Punk are on sale here, or you can tune in to the live stream on January 28. In the meantime, read our ranking of every Daft Punk song.
