According to reports from FACT, British MC and singer Tenor Fly has passed away. Born Jonathan Sutter, Tenor Fly first emerged in the dub and dancehall scenes. He is best known for his work with other producers as well as his work in the ragga scene, a subgenre of dancehall featuring electronic productions.

British electronic group The Freestylers first spoke out about the news on Friday afternoon. "There's not much we can write right now as we're absolutely devastated by the great loss of our long term friend and sparring partner the legendary‪ #‎TenorFly‬. His music touched so many people around the world and it knew no boundaries," the group wrote. The band and Tenor Fly collaborated on a number of tracks in the late 90s and early aughts including the group's official debut single, "B-Boy Stance."

Other DJs and performers like the Black Madonna have begun to offer their condolences. On his Facebook page, Aphrodite wrote, "Whenever he took to the stage he had amazing charisma and shook huge life into the crowds. The music community has lost a true pioneering star."
