The Chainsmokers' number one single, "Closer," will now credit two members of the rock band The Fray as co-writers on the song. Upon release, "Closer" reportedly drew comparisons to The Fray's 2005 track "Over My Head (Cable Car)."Now, ASCAP lists the Fray lead singer Isaac Slade and guitarist Joe King as co-writers of "Closer" on their website. According to Billboard, a representative for the Fray confirmed they are now listed as co-writers.The decision follows a trend in the songwriting world after a jury awarded Marvin Gaye's children $7.4 million for similarities between Gaye's "Got to Give it Up" and Robin Thicke and Pharrell's "Blurred Lines." Last year, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars gave songwriting credit to 70s funk group the Gap Band for similarities between Ronson's "Uptown Funk" and the Gap Band's 1979 track "Oops Upside Your Head."
