Protohype and 12th Planet Grow A "Fungus"

There are many different types of fungi in our beautiful world. Some taste good on pizza, some grow on your feet if you don't shower, and others convince you that you are on Endor dancing with the Ewoks, when in fact you are actually in your local bakery dancing in your underwear.

Today's specimen—"Fungus," from the Smog City 2 compilation—comes courtesy of heavy bass maestros Protohype and 12th Planet. This little piece of twerk heaven is fully loaded with mammoth 808s, hissing rattlesnake snares, a distinctly Californian jerk hip-hop gait, and of course some dude with a deep voice saying "fuuuuuungis." (Twelfie, is that youuuuuu?) The SMOG City 2 Compilation will be released November 19 to inaugurate the SMOG City Series Tour that will include 12th Planet, Flinch, SPL, and TwoFresh. Stoked!

If you didn't know—possibly you have been sleeping under a fungus-covered rock?—SMOG is a regular event series and record label from lovely LA (where there is smog, you jabronis) and is one of the founding brands in North American bass music. These homies run tings and have been widely credited for bringing that dubstep movement from Laaandahn Town across the pond for all us yankee-doodlers. Hit play on this beast and maybe go to the woods and start licking some rocks—you never know what might happen.
