A bit more than a year ago, Fade to Mind bosses Kingdom and Prince William played an unreleased track by former Danity Kane member Dawn Richard on their Rinse FM show, telling The FADER it was something they "[were] working on." As is normal for the Night Slugs sister label, they didn't rush to put anything out, and now that song—entitlted "Honest"—has finally surfaced along with news that Richard and Kingdom, aka Ezra Rubin, have a collaborative EP forthcoming on the label called Infrared.

"I'm over you/I'm not over you/I'd rather be honest," sings Richard, navigating the tricky space that opens up when you've got to convey that you don't know what you want, or exactly how to articulate it. On production, Rubin turns in stoned-and-melancholy, featherweight bustle of a beat, softening the sharp edges Fade to Mind's known for and working with a slightly more subdued, pillowy palate.

In March of last year, Richard, Rubin, and visual artist Kyselina™ collaborated on a conceptual performance at Miami's PAMM called "Nexus Re-Morph," as part of its WAVES program.

Fade to Mind's Nguzunguzu recently reminded us why they're some of our favorite DJs in the world with their third "Perfect Lullaby" mix; if you're craving more after that, revisit their terrific THUMP mix.
