Disclosure Announces Sophomore Album Named for a Wild Cat, ‘Caracal’

Confirming the news during their own Wild Life Festival in Brighton, England, the duo also unveils two major US shows this fall.

With singles "Bang That" and "Holding On" already lingering in our ears, we knew this news was coming. Today, Disclosure has made it official: the UK house duo will release their second album, Caracal, on September 25, 2015 through PMR/Island Records.

"A caracal is an incredible wild cat that I became fascinated with while on tour last year," Howard Lawrence says of the album title inspiration. "I just love the way they look, their physical capabilities and their anonymity. It felt like a perfect fit for our Wild Life brand too, so the caracal made perfect sense as the lead visual for the new album and over the course of recording, it also felt like a natural title for the new record too."

Fans will note that on the album cover, the caracal is given its own face outline, different from the human face outline that has become a cornerstone of the Disclosure visual brand.

At Parklife and Wild Life festivals this weekend in the UK, the band was joined on stage by collaborators Lion Babe, Nao and Kewbs. They also premiered a new song from Caracal, "Jaded," that features Howard Lawrence himself on vocals.

Caracal follows the UK No. 1 album Settle, which launched the careers of then-19 and 21-year old Howard and Guy Lawrence along with those of collaborators Sam Smith, AlunaGeorge, and London Grammar, along with a trail of house revivalists in its wake. The album earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album, as did the single version of track "F For You" featuring Mary J. Blige. To say expectations are high for Caracal would be an understatement.

Stateside, Disclosure has only two live shows planned so far, but they're big ones. They'll play first at the Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles on September 29 and at Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 24.

More than just an album title, Disclosure is also raising awareness for wild caracals, directing fans to BigCatRescue.org for more information.
