EDC Las Vegas Kicks Off Amidst Concerns over Record Heat

Festival promoter Insomniac has been working around the clock to provide additional amenities to account for heightened temperatures.

With a temperature high of 108 degrees, Las Vegas is sweltering even for desert standards as the countdown to EDC dwindles to minutes. Festival promoter Insomniac has been working around the clock to provide additional amenities to account for heightened temperatures.

The average high in June for Las Vegas caps at 100 degrees, and the near ten degree hike will reflect in temperatures all night long, even as it hits the nightly low of 82 degrees at 6AM.

In preparation for this, EDC Las Vegas will have 152 access points for free water. All attendees will need to bring is a bottle or receptacle and Insomniac will fill it gratis. Check the map below for locations.

Additionally, the festival has an area titled Ground Control Oasis, an air-conditioned environment for recharging and resting. The 200-strong Ground Control team will be roving the premises offering helping hands wherever needed.

Even with this considered, ravers must take extra caution and responsibility for themselves –– Drink water, reconsider substance use, and look out for your friends. If you see something, say something!

Rave safely. See you on the dancefloor! View EDC's health and safety documents here.
