Whether it's for playing out at a club or listening at home, DJs and producers typically have an encyclopedic hoard of music, new and old. In The Last Record, they tell us about the last three songs or albums they've purchased, and why these were important additions to their music collection.

This week, we spoke to DJ Mamabear, who hosts Honeypot on Dublab and is a member of the Sweater Funk crew. You can catch the LA-based DJ next on July 29th at the Elbo Room in San Francisco.

Bosq - "Can't Seem to Hide (ft. Megan Doherty)"

I first discovered Bosq thru my friend Caserta (who happened to mix & master this record). I think Bosq lives in the Colombian jungle, and thanks to technology was able to link with Megan Dohrerty, the sweetheart of

Social Lovers

, who laid down the vocals on this track perfectly. The hook has been stuck in my head for the past few weeks, and I'm not mad one bit. Disco twirl vibes, perfect for summer.

Computa Games - "Livin' it Up (ft. Jackie Rain)"

This is a record that has not left my bag since the test press was placed in my paws, thanks to Randy "

Hothobo

" Ellis. The intro is reminiscent of Zapp & Roger and I like to play this as a dance floor warm up. People can't help but dance to this.

Brian Ellis - "Out of My Mind"

I have been waiting impatiently for this release since I first got a preview last year. This entire album from start to finish is an instant classic and he plays every instrument on the record. The gatefold artwork alone is worth the buy. "Out Of My Mind" is my go-to song for when I'm driving Pacific Coast highway. The Brian Ellis Experience is one that you must see for yourself in person. Dude is such a character. Grab your 2LP

Jay W. McGee - "When We Party"

Last month, I played in Portland with my beloved DJ crew

Sweater Funk

, as well as PDX's finest selectors: Bobby D and Maxx Bass. At height of the night, Maxx dropped this track and the dance floor erupted. I'm pretty sure I blacked out from the overwhelming joy of being in a room full of people, most of whom had never heard this song before and were going crazy. I bought the record the next day, and it will forever remind me of that night and my crew.
