Storied London nightclub fabric sold its Room Two Martin Audio speaker system on eBay for $14,722.87 (£11,700) today. The bidding ended a little after 8 AM EST, and came to a close after 95 bids.

Half of proceeds will go to the medical fund for Amanda Moss, a co-founder of London's Corsica Studios venue, who was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer last year.

The system was initially put up for auction on March 17. Although eBay keeps information about bidders confidential, the winner of the auction was seemingly new to eBay, having never used their account to bid on anything before. Fabric declined to comment on who the buyer was.

The club took the Martin Audio system out of commission in August 2016, replacing it with a Pioneer Pro Audio rig. Explaining the decision, fabric's technical manager Keith Reynolds said that the new system had the advantage of being designed specifically for club settings.

When fabric was allowed to reopen in November, it was only able to do so with a strict new set of licensing conditions. THUMP recently spoke to a harm reduction expert about what the club's new drug policies could mean for the safety of clubgoers.
