The NYC-based feminist DJ platform will throw four parties in the Golden State over the next two weeks.
Don't forget your sunglasses —Discwoman is making their California debut this weekend. The New York collective and booking agency will host an afternoon party on Sunday, March 27 at the Standard Hotel's rooftop pool, with LA-based DJ and producer Kim Anh, Hard Candy party resident Suga Shay, up-and-comer Bathhouse, and a special guest all slated to spin.
Discwoman will also be throwing another party in LA on Friday (March 25), co-hosted by underground promoters Fine Time, featuring Discwoman co-founder UMFANG, NYC techno fave Volvox, along with 100% Silk affiliate Cherushii and Perpetual Dawn resident Dahlia.
After Los Angeles, the crew will move on to San Francisco and Oakland on April 1 and 2, respectively. In San Francisco, UMFANG and Volvox will be joined by Dhra and Jaqi Sparro at the F8 1192 Folsom club, while the party in Oakland, co-hosted by the Club Chai promoters, will feature BEARCAT, 8ULENTINA, Namasté Shawty, Foozool and Jasmine Infiniti.
In anticipation of the show at the Standard this weekend, THUMP is excited to premiere a fresh mix from Kim Anh, who recently released her debut EP, "Shadows" via Yellow Year Records. The mix showcases her taste for slick and grooving house tunes with an old-school edge, and as Kim told THUMP over email: "Growing up listening to early 90's house music coming out of of Chicago, Detroit and NYC really influenced and eventually ignited my music and DJ career. It's beautiful to witness and be a part of the strong resurgence of house and techno music in Los Angeles." Check out the mix here, and go see the Discwoman squad as they tear up the West Coast.
