Watch the Laidback Luke & Project 46 "Collide" Video

Hot babes, cute kids, and a surprise ending. Mixmash comes through on a Weird Science vibe for Luke's newest banger.

Last Monday, Laidback Luke unleashed the first release of the year on his smash label Mixmash Records. "Collide" is a collaboration with Vancouver progressive house dons Project 46 and New York-based vocalist Collin McLoughlin (who you may recognize from Season 3 of The Voice). The track soars along on a bed of thick pumping house drums and uplifting melodies, reminding you of every peak-time, hands-in-the-air festival moment you had last summer. While the video could have easily been crowd shots and DJ booth clips from one of Luke's massive shows, the Mixmash team went one different on this one, crafting a modern-day version of Weird Science.

Weird Science is a 1985 classic teen flick where a pair of high school nerd bombers use their computer to create a totally bodacious dream girl. (If you ever stayed home sick from school, you've probably seen it.) In the "Collide" video, director Jelle Posthuma builds on this plot and thickens it considerably. We won't give all the secrets—you'll just have to watch for yourself!
