Here's All the Free Music Artists Gave Away for Christmas

Free music! Free music! Free music!

Christmas is a time for giving, or something or other. Producers, DJs, and bands from all over kept that in mind and took the opportunity to give a bunch of music away. Here are some of the best gifts we were given this Christmas:

The Martin Brothers DNB Yule Log

Justin and Christian Martin, otherwise known as Dirtybird OGs The Martin Brothers, gave away the recording of their now legendary b2b drum and bass set, performed in the rain during the wee hours of the inaugural Dirtybird Campout this year.

"Its been a wonderful year raging with you all, and as a special thank you for all of your support, we would like to give away a very special mix," said Justin on Facebook. "Hopefully this musical journey will bring back some nice memories of that magical sunrise at the ‪#‎dirtybirdcampout‬ where the SoCal sky opened up right at dawn and showered us with the first rainfall in months."

Resident Advisor's 499 Podcasts

In celebration of their 500th podcast with anyone who isn't Ricardo Villalobos, Resident Advisor allowed access to all 499 of their RA Podcasts, from #1 (Troy Pierce) to #499 (DJ Paypal). You can access them all here.

LCD Soundsystem's Sad Christmas Reunion

Indie-dance deities LCD Soundsystem returned from a five year hiatus to record and release "Christmas Will Break Your Heart," a mopey crooner about how Christmas kinda sucks sometimes.

"There's been this depressing christmas song i'd been singing to myself for the past 8 years," said LCD ringleader James Murphy on Facebook. Turns out that earlier this month, Murphy gathered Al Doyle, Phil Mossman, Nancy Whang, and Tyler Pope, and the group recorded the track, and within weeks, it has appeared as a 7-inch vinyl release.

Radiohead's Bond Theme

Technically an electronic act (at least for two albums), Radiohead emerged from the depths to release a free download of "Spectre," a tune they made for this year's James Bond movie of the same name. "Last year we were asked to write a theme tune for the Bond movie Spectre. Yes we were. It didn't work out, but became something of our own, which we love very much," said the band.

Canblaster's Winter Mixtape

Club Cheval member Canblaster continued his yearly series of Winter mixtapes with volume 3, titled "The Coldest Winter." It's 35 minutes long and can be downloaded for free. "No drums, just Synths and Voices," reads the French producer's description of "The Coldest Winter", and the downtempo 35-minute mix is just that, cramming in tracks from Japanese composer Yoko Kanno, ambient pioneer Gigi Masin, Felix Da Housecat, Hudson Mohawke, Tears For Fear, and more.

Sunset Groove's Call for Peace

Angeleno sunshine specialists Sunset Groove reflected on a troubled 2015 by giving away their edit of Timmy Thomas' "Why Can't We Live Together?," a tune Drake sampled for his "Hotline Bling."

The duo's Mike Frazier said the following on Facebook: "we hope that you all, our friends and family, and whoever else hears this record. Takes this cry for peace, love, unity, and respect with them into the next year and beyond."

Joris Voorn's End-of-Year Mix

At 75-minutes long, this one might pull you through to the new year. The excellent mix has garnered a lot of buzz, and features everyone from Four Tet to Dusky to Royksopp.
