Inxec and Gil Montiel's Creepy Techno EP Sounds Like Insects Crawling on Your Face

It's called "Dolphins" and it's very, very good.

Elements from darkened dancefloors all over the globe appear on Nottingham-based Inxec and Mexican Gil Montiel's Dolphins EP, released April 11th on Italian label Extravaganza. Remixers incluse California's Dance Spirit and 12 Stories, a new collaborative project between Inxec and Londoner Mark Jenkyns.

Inxec has quietly put together an impressive catalog of music over the past few years on labels like––prepare yourself––Crosstown Rebels, Leftroom, Get Physical, Last Night On Earth, Cityfox, and Cocoon. His latest work takes the best elements from his past releases and wraps them up in creepiness with with the help of little-known but immensely talented Gil Montiel.

The Dolphin EP is driving, dark, complex, and spooky, just the right stuff for midnight at your local trippy desert rave or 4AM at your nearby warehouse rager.

The title track opens up with ominous horns before insect-like whirrs punctuate the higher registers. Before long, the bouncing, pulsating bass has risen to the forefront and it's a bonafide groover, the kind DJs utilize when transitioning in and out of peak time. The track manages to engulf you in its brooding aura without ever resorting to aggression. It's an immersive and sinister listening experience.

"Take 3" leans more towards tech-house, despite exhibiting the duo's penchant for creepy sounds that feel like beetles are crawling over your ears. The low-end lightsaber synths are the tune's hook, and the competing hi-hat patterns give the track an uptempo feel that will see the track rinsed out in many differing styles of sets. You'll want to listen to both here in advance of its release next week.
