Feels like it's been a long time coming for Kayper. The UK-based DJ started spinning at the tender age of 12, proving her talent by becoming the first female DJ to win The Daily Telegraph Student DJ of the Year and Vestax Juice DJ competition—both in the same year. She then went on to hosted her own radio show on the BBC; in fact, Chris Martin was such a fan that he invited Kayper to play at Gwyneth Paltrow's birthday party in France (sources tell us the cake was made entirely from kale and consciously raised water.)This summer, Kayper is flexing her production skills with a new EP on Eton Messy, with her second single "Terminal" (featuring London singer/songwriter Janai) streaming above. With diva vocals, a saucy garage two-step, and textures as rich as honey butter, the track embodies the nostalgic sound that UK pop-house acts like Disclosure, Rudimental, and Gorgon City have been conquering the charts with."The track takes influences from music I've listened to and played in clubs for years. It's my modern take on the feel-good 90s house that I grew up on," Kayper says. "Everything was built around the chord stabs which are a made up of two layers. The main part of the sound comes from the Oberheim and the attack of the stabs are from a patch made in the Andromeda, which is probably my favorite synth ever. I wanted to have a part in the track that could like dance breakdown, which is why it strips down to the beat and bass before the last chorus comes in."
