Jauz Takes RiFF RaFF to the Bassline Rave, Reveals Skrillex Collab

NEON SHARKBOi's remix of

Jauz has been a major beneficiary of garage's takeover of the Los Angeles dance scene. The prolific producer has taken that quintessential Night Bass-inspired, whomp-heavy sound, turned up the swagger and set it loose upon the world - It's been reaping dividends ever since.

After remixing Tiga's "Bugatti" and OT Genasis' "Coco," Jauz has turned his attentions to RiFF RaFF's "Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwdinz." He somehow manages to turn the laid-back and generally ridiculous hip hop tune into a rowdy bassline basher. "The original is so goofy and fun. I tried to keep the original vibe of the track in tact while adding my touch where it's needed, namely the drop," Jauz tells THUMP. "The verse after the first drop is so poppy and cheesy to me compared to what I would normally do, but it fit so well and had such a fun vibe I couldn't say no to it. It ended up being my favorite part of the whole track."

Unfortunately, Jauz neither got a chance to hang with or get any workout tips from RiFF RaFF during the remix process. "He's pretty yolked now though so I think I'd probably be much more intimidated meeting him now than before," he laughs. "I imagined this remix to be what he listens to on repeat to get amped while he's bulking and doing set after set in the gym. No pre-workout needed!"

The internet has been awash with rumors of a Jaux/Skrillex collab. We'll make it official - It's on. "Oh man, I don't really know how much I can say," admits Jauz. "The fact that it's already circulating the Internet is awesome but also not so awesome because the tune is still in its infancy for sure. I guess that's what I get for playing it out at shows and announcing it to the world, though!

"Anyways, the track started as an idea I had written a while ago, it was pretty cool as it was but I knew it needed more and I knew it was right up Sonny's alley. I sent it to him and didn't get anything back for about a month and was like 'great, he probably thinks I'm so dumb for thinking he'd wanna work on a song with me"' and just about exactly when that thought went through my head. he hit me back like 'Yes, dude, send the project ASAP. Lets do it!

"Within 12 hours of that, he sent me back a version that was completely different from what I sent him. I knew he was gonna kill it, but I had no idea he was gonna totally flip it on its head like that, I remember the first time I listened to it I couldn't stop grinning, like "holy shit, this is the track I sent him? For real?' I can't wait to wrap it up here soon and show you guys the finished product, and definitely am looking forward to whatever the future has in store for both Sonny and myself."
