Today, Oslo-based artist Ida Dillan shares with THUMP an exclusive track off her debut EP Angelic Slang, which is out Friday, February 10th. Dillan, who is part of the 3000 Textures crew, excels at pairing contradictory sounds like emotional vocals and mechanical production. She has previously produced grinding yet trance-inducing remixes and originals such as her remix of Ballo's "Me," out last December. The EP is out on Extasis Records and features remixes from artists like Paul Marmota and Santa Muerte, and artwork from Alejandro Nuñez (the man behind ZUTZUT).

In her new track "Scorpion Kick (Paul Marmota Remix)," different pitches of industrial drum and keyboard loops weave in, through, and around each other. Dillan and Marmota's sounds build towards a full but understated climax and then bring the listener along for a tranquilizing come-down. On both "Scorpion Kick" and the EP as a whole, Dillan showcases her paradoxical sound, pairing what she describes as "soothing harmonies" with "vicious drum beats" in an examination of her persona.

"Angelic Slang is an EP that portrays one of the more playful, yet dark sides of me as both a person and producer," said Dillan in an email to THUMP. "For me it's been about exploring different sides of myself."
