It had us "5 Feet" off the ground and rising...

When it comes to underground credibility, there's no more fruitful of a bi-coastal combination than Brooklyn's Wolf+Lamb and San Francisco's Dirtybird.

THUMP fav Nick Monaco

is able to call both home, and his new "5 Feet" EP (a triumphant Dirtybird return) is further indication of why tastemakers are all about his style. Wheras most young producers trawl recent Vengeance soundpacks for their kicks and snares, Monaco's sounds are culled from the organic and arranged in a manner that places groove, mood, and a 'lil bit of that "huh?" factor as tantamount.

The title track from the EP is one half housey shuffler, the other half spooky boudoir tune — the kind of ditty you'd expect to be the soundtrack to something unsavory in a Tarantino flick. "American Holiday" sounds like a 50's big band warming up after dropping a dose of ecstasy. 'Nuff said, really. Check it out.
