Mark Farina Is Celebrating 25 Years of Mushroom Jazz With a New Comp and Tour

Back in 1991, the now veteran DJ Mark Farina made his mark on the dance music scene by developing a sound he called Mushroom Jazz—"a unique blend of chicago house with jazz, down tempo cuts, and urban hip-hop samples." Over the years he has released a series of compilations showcasing the sounds of the Mushroom Jazz sub-genre. Now the DJ has announced its 8th installment and a series of tour dates to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary.

Mushroom Jazz Eight brings together both a celebrated and emerging generation of Mushroom Jazzers, including Joey Bada$ beat maker Freddie Joachim and underground urban dance champion DJ Spinna. The comp will be available to preorder in a variety of mediums, including vinyl, here.

In addition to a fresh new comp, Mark Farina is taking his Mushroom Jazz on the road and performing DJ sets at clubs around the country. Scope out the track list and Farina's tour dates and stream Mushroom Jazz Seven below.
