Mister Saturday Night Plan to Open an Indoor Venue in Brooklyn

Brooklyn party-throwing institution Mister Saturday Night today announced a crowdfund to help them open a new indoor space at their Ridgewood bar and restaurant Nowadays. Founders Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin want to build a 5000-square-foot expansion so they can begin hosting their MSN and Mister Sunday parties in a permanent space.

The planned indoor area will include a dining room and a dancefloor, and transform what was previously a seasonal, outdoor-only space into a year-round one. Along with their club nights, Carter and Harkin will also use the space to host listening sessions, film screenings, weekly live concerts co-presented with Le Poisson Rouge, interdisciplinary classes, and a new menu created by chef Henry Rich of Rucola, Fitzcarraldo, and the Commissary.

Carter and Harkin's Kickstarter campaign has a base goal of $50,000, intended to help them do a thorough job of permitting and licensing the space. Their second goal is $100,000, which would allow they to buy two sound systems. They hope to successfully fund the project by May.

Rewards for pledging range from a recording of the first Mister Saturday Night party at Nowadays to a private party for the backer and 200 of their friends.

Back in 2014, Carter and Harkin gave THUMP the scoop behind some of their favorite party closer records. More recently, Carter released a solo LP getting back to his choir singer roots, Crowds Fall.
