Most Vital: Tiësto Speaks, Mike Mago Returns and Alesso Loves Kylie

No controversy, just the goods.

Golden Records

Since winning his first ever Grammy on Sunday, Tiësto's acceptance speech has made some bloggers and Facebook commenters wince for its lack of crowd response. Those who were there know how strange the place is and that this speech was less for the room but more for us across the internet. Also, what is that music?

Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne, however, were adorable smiles and thank-yous in the aftermath of their win over Disclosure who have now been nominated twice for a Grammy but have yet to win. Still, earlier this week, their homies Sam Smith, Jimmy Napes, and Tourist cleaned up thanks to Smith's "Stay With Me," which Tourist and Napes co-wrote and co-produced. Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins produced the version of the tune that won Record of the Year, so (oddly) he picked up a trophy too.

Valentine's Day Horror

In what has to be the oddest February chart entry ever, horror film master John Carpenter has release an album of all-electronic non-soundtrack music. Opening at No. 1 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart, Lost Themes edges Excision's Codename X by two slots as it opened in No. 3 in its first week.

Here We Mago Again

After a successful run on its own, Mike Mago's "Outlines" has returned in single form to bow at No. 8 on the UK Singles chart and No. 2 on the Dance Top 40. Meanwhile, last week's breakthrough from Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo slips to No. 30.

Love in the Time of Techno

As Valentine's Day approaches, we sent one of our own to the nether regions of the internet in search of love. What he found was nothing close to love at all at Tastebuds.fm, an online dating site for music nerds. Instead, he delved further into the unending pit of loneliness that is the internet.

Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso, Snapchat Biker Dudes

In conjunction with Snapchat's rollout of their Discovery platform, we premiered the Axwell / Ingrosso comeback video this week, and the world went kinda nuts. In the videok, the world-conquering Swedish duo go for a joyride through the desert that almost has some very dangerous consequences. We won't ruin the surprise for you, though…

Are You Forest Raver or a Desert Raver?

Hipsters and hippies alike were giddy with glee as Electric Forest announced its patchouli-scented lineup of heavy hitters, with Skrillex, Kaskade, Flume, and of course, Bassnectar headlining. For those on the West Coast, LED annouced it's docket of performers for its off-site Coachella parties, Day Club, which will feature Porter Robinson, CHVRCHES, and busy boy Skrillex yet again.

Alesso <3s Kylie

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Alesso shows his love for Kylie Minogue by using her 2010 tune "Get Outta My Way" as the base track for his new Roy English-featuring tune "Cool." Like the sampled tune, produced by Cutfather, Stuart Price and co-writers Peter Wallevik, Daniel Davidsen and Damon Sharpe, Alesso's "Cool" is a brightly cheery number whose tempo and key belie some fraught feelings over a stalled romance. Sigh. It's just a Hallmark holiday anyway, right?
