MTA Records Soundtracks the UK's One Week of Summer with Free EP

The genre-stomping 5-track EP might actually last too long.

Summer in London is a meteorological unicorn. Around the middle of July, the sun-or-something-like-it peeks through the dense British cloud layer for just long enough for girls to strap on their Summer rompers and the lads to crack open a 40oz cider. But by the time the whole cricket team's shown up at Hyde Park, it's winter again, endless, relentless Winter.

Suffice to say, when Summer arrives in the UK, you gotta make the most of it. That's what world-beating hometown label MTA Records are doing with their Summer EP, a free-to-download 5-track collection of tracks from artists they're currently incubating. Keep in mind, this is the label that launched Chase & Status, Nero, Kove, Ben Pearce, and Josh Butler, so when they say they've got something cooking, it's probably best to keep your fork handy.

The EP opens with the spacious, Hamburg House-inspired "Heart Burn" by Maurice James. Then, Authr drops the tropical garage tune "Belief" before Kursa brings some deep dubstep wobble at a garage tempo.

Etched's "Nayru" has future bass on lock, and Chris Dogzout x CZuR's "Dirty" features hip-hop flows with a Southern cadence sampled atop a wicked, bass-blasted beat. MTA Records are not a label easily labelled, and this collection proves they're continuing to push forward on multiple fronts as label heavyweights Nero ready their second album, to be released on 28.08 (ahem, that's doomsday if you're paying attention)
