Neosignal Go From Drum & Bass to Dystopian Disco

Phace and Misanthrop's genre-busting collaborative project brings some 4x4 to the dancefloor

Phace and Misanthrop have been buzzy names in the world of neurofunk for a good while now. While both are championed by genre deities Noisia for their solo work, their collaborative project Neosignal is an opportunity for the German duo to break out of genre molds. That's exactly what they've done with their upcoming Space Gsus EP, released on October 13th on Division Recordings.

We've got the exclusive premiere of "Peace of Mind," and it is definitely not drum & bass. Although I was about to jump on calling the track 'dystopian disco,' the duo disagreed: "We think we would simply call it techno, electro or electronic music! In general we are no friends of too crazy genre categorizations. Those names come and go like the wind."

As individuals, they're best known for the frenetic, technical sound of neurofunk, but Neosignal fans know by now not to expect the expected from the genre-busting collaborative project. "We released our debut band LP Raum und Zeit mid-2013, and we think in terms of style our new EP is a logical progression to that." they told THUMP. "We think the majority of our fans definitely understand by now that Neosignal Recordings, Phace and/or Misanthrop means Drum & Bass, whereas Neosignal the band is our electronic music project without genre limits."
