10 of the Best Pride Parties Happening in New York This Weekend

A rundown of the best places to dance and celebrate NYC Pride.

This weekend, THUMP honors Pride with a celebration of all aspects of LBGTQ nightlife in NYC and beyond. Follow our Pride Weekend coverage here.

Throughout June, the LGBTQ community celebrates how much they've achieved in their fight for equality, but it's this last weekend (June 24-26) where events really ramp up in New York. Sunday's parade, the annual LGBTQ march that commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Inn Riots, will be the showpiece, but you can celebrate with your feet in another way this week too, at one of the many parties being held in the city as part of NYC Pride.

Following the events in Orlando, this year will be painfully poignant for members of the LGBTQ community. Many will be taking to New York's dancefloors, showing solidarity for the community the best way possible—through love, laughter, and lots of dancing. Here is THUMP's rundown of the best places to party during Pride this weekend:

1. The Dragon Ball

What: Inspired by Akira Toriyama's manga/anime series of the same name, queer art collective The Culture Whore will bring together Discwoman co-founder UMFANG, Toronto's Scooter McCreight, Brooklyn's Katie Rex, and more for a night of installation, libations, ritual, photography, and of course, dancing. If you're wondering what to expect, consider this excerpt from a poem gracing the event description: "the beasts are waiting on the edges of what is real, what can be believed/lurking in the shadows, slinking through your dreams/great claws ready to rip you apart."

Where: 1332 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11216
