Ninja Tune's Dystopian Popstress Emika Launches Her Own Label

The Berlin-based artist creates a daring new platform with a cluster of new releases

Classically trained, electronically inspired Emika is launching off from her Ninja Tune nest and dropping a collection of new releases exclusively on her new self-titled imprint, Emika Records.

Ema Jolly, AKA Emika, garnered a wide array of praise from the likes of Thom Yorke to Pinch (whom she has since collaborated with) on her two previous releases on Ninja Tune. Emika's desire for artistic freedom has led her to harvest a niche foundation of her own in efforts to move away from constraints of a traditional record label.

Emika Records' initial set of releases will feature A Debut Symphony (written by Emika herself and performed by a 70-piece orchestra), a series of 12" club tracks inspired by her travels – and if that wasn't enough to pique your interest – her third LP.

These releases are currently slated for 2015 and you can peep the trailer here.

The slogan of the new platform exemplifies the label's ethos:
"Beyond Underground, Beyond Commercial, Creative Business Activities, Freedom to Grow, Artist Driven"
