Getter's 'Inner Workings' EP Will Diddle Your Delicate Eardrums

The Firepower Records star is keeping it heavy while moving into new territories.

The Firepower Records roster is chock full of heavy hitters. Datsik's bass-wielding army could burn the eardrums off of even the most seasoned heavy bass aficionado, but Getter's new Inner Workings EP is fixing to take listeners in new directions while maintaining that typically Firepower heaviness. "This EP as a whole was more aimed for my own satisfaction rather than my fans," Getter tells THUMP. "I really wanted to just prove to myself what new directions I could take."

The record starts out with "Clockwork," one of the deeper tracks on the record. It brings in some of the good-ol-fashioned deeper UK aesthetic but ramps it up with the metallic crunch we've come to expect from Getter. "Clockwork was more of an experimental song. I just tested out some new processing techniques I learned over the past few months," says Getter. When it drops into drum & bass in the second half, all bets are off and the party's started.

"I'm starting to get tired of the same thing over and over again so I'm making an effort to change my style for the better," says Getter. That thirst for adventure is evident all over the EP, particularly on the last track, "Stay a While," which is laden with down-under future bass stylings. Elsewhere, Dodge & Fuski drop some absolute mayhem on the remix of "Sinner," and Getter pronounces that "Dubstep is Dead" with a classically jah-rasta stomper.
