Parisian Newcomers AGLORY Merge Bass Music with Techno

In a world where 808 bass drops have fallen out of favor in lieu of groovy basslines imploring you to go one deeper, we're shedding light on an act in the midst of paving a new genre-bending lane in bass music. The duo, known as AGLORY, hails from France - an unsurprising birthplace as few cultures have played as integral a role in shaping electronic music as the French.

As the current style of trap music slowly joins dubstep in the 'Michael Bay' genre of EDM, this Parisian tandem is bucking trends and adding some much-needed depth to a genre teetering on becoming a one-trick pony. "Trap music resonates more than ever in the clubs of Paris and techno is ubiquitous throughout the country," they tell THUMP. "We live in a very interesting time for bass music in Europe and France, the sounds have become more clean, tracks have higher quality, and the competition is stiff."

Having remixed the likes of Die Antwoord, Major Lazer, and techno's reigning Prince of Darkness, Gesaffelstein, Aglory ditches gimmicks while seamlessly blending genres. 'Gank' is an example of how fresh this sound can be when firing on all cylinders. It's a raucous intersection of trap's tribal and techno's industrial elements, brought together with a distorted bass that's downright bone-jarring. This no-frills style reflects their approach on music: "Our goal is to stand out clearly from the rest of the stage and music that's too trendy…We hope that in a few years, people in electronic music can listen to our songs and say without seeing the title 'It's AGLORY', this is our way to leave our mark." So far so good.

In their latest offering "Panther," the newcomers' versatility is on full display. Dripping in their signature dark sound, this change-of-pace bangs heavy as brooding vocals set a cool, sexy vibe. A perfect track to get the dungeon after-party started.
