Paul Kalkbrenner In Sin City

Canada, that is. The German techno powerhouse (and star of Berlin Calling) touches down in Montreal for some sexy techno raving.

Paul Kalkbrenner is nothing less than a huge deal in his native Germany, where being the star of Berlin Calling—a fiction movie that nevertheless encapsulates what a rollercoaster of emotional highs and lows being a DJ really entails—and its subsequent soundtrack on Bpitch Control has made him a household name. Although you don't hear many Americans saying Kalkbrenner three times fast, the man nonetheless has been playing sold-out shows all around North America this month on his Guten Tag tour—you can still catch him tomorrow night at LA's Henry Fonda Theatre and Sunday at San Francisco's Mezzanine. The tour coincides with his sixth studio album, also called Guten Tag, which has been soaring to the top of the German charts just like his other (mainly self-released) records.
