Actor Alan Cumming is opening a club called Club Cumming in New York's East Village, Page Six reports.

The venue is scheduled to open its doors in September, replacing what is currently the Easternbloc Bar, a gay bar located on East 6th Street. Cumming has partnered with Easternbloc owners Benjamin Maisani and Darren Dryden, and promoter Daniel Nardicio for the new venue, which a representative of the actor described to Page Six as "a mixture of performance, DJs [and] theme nights and as eclectic and unexpected as Alan himself."

A veteran in the entertainment field, Cumming's film and television credits include The Good Wife, Spy Kids, and Eyes Wide Shut, as well as theater runs in productions such as Hamlet and Broadway's Cabaret. As Eater points out, it was during the latter production that Cumming created the Club Cumming concept in his dressing room and later hosted pop-up versions in Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Edinburgh.

"Alan is highbrow/lowbrow, and so am I," said Nardicio in an interview with Out. "We want to make things more chic, like a Kit Kat Club-style dressing room and a bathroom redone by a major cosmetics firm."
