Fans across the globe participated in listening parties for Radiohead's latest album, A Moon Shaped Pool. However, one party, which took place at Velvet Indieground, a record store in Istanbul, Turkey, came under attack from a group of about 20 men.

The attackers were reportedly upset that customers and staff were drinking alcohol and listening to music during the holy month of Ramadan. The BBC reported attackers used sticks and bottles against the listeners. Video of the attack was first live-streamed on Periscope. Velvet Indieground was one of hundreds of record stores across the globe hosting a "Live From A Moon Shaped Pool" listening party, but they were the only record store in Turkey to do so.

Radiohead has released a statement condemning the attack: "Our hearts go out to those attacked tonight at Velvet IndieGround in Istanbul. We hope that someday we will be able to look back on such acts of violent intolerance as things of the ancient past. For now, we can only offer our fans in Istanbul our love and support." In 2016, THUMP suggested the group's new album makes a heartbreaking case for unplugging.
