In a series of tweets yesterday morning, Boiler Room announced the end of their chatrooms. "You were awful but we loved you (sorta)," they tweeted.

The loved and hated chatrooms were an integral part of the live Boiler Room experience. However, the chatrooms garnered controversy in recent months due to the inflammatory comments of some of its commenters. In June, female Glaswegian DJ Nightwave received a slew of sexist comments directed at her during her performance. And Russian DJ Toxe received similarly upsetting comments only a day prior to Nightwave's set.

Boiler Room responded to the controversy on Twitter, stating, "Talking smack on genres or tech is whatever, lame but part for the course. Misogyny / transphobia / racism / anything else personal is 10000% unacceptable. We can't exist without the internet & (sadly) the internet can't exist seem to exists without vile cowardly dickheads. But we're moving quickly to address this… this kind of chatroom shit disgusts us."

According to yesterday's tweets, those interested in commenting can do so on Facebook.

In recent months, Boiler Room has utilized the social media network's Facebook Live platform to broadcast many of its shows. The Huffington Post reports Boiler Room has increased engagement by 400% in the last three months through its use of Facebook Live.

Boiler Room's use of Facebook Live, "drives social discussion as much from the crowds dancing next to the DJ's as it is does the mixing itself," said Jeremy Wilson at the Huffington Post. "It's the shared experiencing of watching something at the same time of thousands of others that makes the digital experience so effective."
