Thousands gathered this Saturday at the landmark Stonewall Inn for an anti-Trump solidarity rally. The event was organized by New York City Councilman Corey Johnson.

In addition to the Councilman, more than 60 groups and 16 lawmakers–including Governor Andrew Cuomo, Congressman Jerrold Nadler and Senator Brad Hoylman–sponsored the rally.

In a Facebook event for the rally, organizers said that they, "stand in solidarity with every immigrant, asylum seeker, refugee and every person impacted by Donald Trump's illegal, immoral, unconstitutional and un-American executive orders." The Stonewall Inn was the site of the famous Stonewall riots, which is historically considered to be a catalyst for the LGBT rights movement.

In a tweet sent from the rally, Governor Cuomo said, "Let us be clear: we will do everything in our power to protect New Yorkers from discrimination."
