Two people were reportedly injured after lightning struck at the Summer Camp Festival in Chillicothe, Illinois.According to a report from the Peoria Journal Star, light rain developed into a significant storm, which led festival organizers and public safety officials to shut down the music stages. Campers at the festival were asked to find shelter.
"Large puddles that resembled junior lakes welled up around the grounds, specifically near the stage entrances. In some places, the depth of the puddles was up to people's shins," the Peoria Journal Star reported.
In a press release, festival organizers reported two injuries after lightning struck the camp grounds. Onsite medical crews first reported the injuries and later transported the injured to a nearby hospital.The spring storms also led to delays and cancellations for many of the festival's performers, including Friday headliner moe. Performers at this year's festival include A Tribe Called Red, Zeds Dead and Run the Jewels. Summer Camp Festival is scheduled to run as normal today.
