Brazilian producer Superfície today shared the dynamic track "Cerol," forthcoming off his debut EP Hélices on renowned Uruguayan imprint Salviatek. The track presents an intriguing hybrid of baile funk rhythms, ambient spatiality, tropical rainforest sound effects, and spawning cybernetic movements. What makes it so thrilling is the way it feels less like an ossified composition than a vibrant assemblage of semi-autonomous moving parts—scurrying across unexpected lateral shifts and rewiring its patterns according to seemingly improvised internal adjustments.

The producer told THUMP via email about the track's reimagining of its science fiction influences. "'Cerol' is like a baile meets Ghost in the Shell," he said. Bunch of kids playing kite with drones. Optical fiber running like veins through deprived communities, and that rave scene in The Matrix except Morpheus is substituted by Mr. Catra."

Salviatek was founded by the producers Lechuga Zafiro and Pobvio; last year Lechuga released an EP on the label exploring electronic variations on the Afro-Uruguayan of Candombe music.

Hélices will be released on December 16, and feature four original tracks as well as two remixes by Club Chai's foozool and Venezuelan-American producer umurmurum.
