Nate Young, the brains behind the beloved Detroit noise-jam trio Wolf Eyes, is curating an electronic music festival, and it has us turning our heads.

The Trip Metal Fest, taking place primarily in Detroit's El Club and at other venues across the city, will occur over Memorial Day weekend and will include a collaboration between Chicago-based techno/jazz producer Hieroglyphic Being and members of the Sun Ra Arkestra, a duet between Young and Party DJ Andrew WK, screenings from the video website Everything Is Terrible!, a discussion with legendary magnetic tape artist Pauline Oliveros, and more. A three-day pass ($75) gets you a limited-edition poster, a free drink, and access to almost everything festival related.

"This is a first for us," Young told THUMP over email, "a festival of all things, [that ties together] early electronic music, noise, techno, jazz, and Detroit, etc. [I am] trying to illustrate a thread and shared context between it all. Forest Juziuk and Lindsay Karty (aka Viki) helped me put the fest together."
