UK Electronica Icons Leftfield to Play Rare US Set at This Year's Further Future Festival

The 90s legends join Four Tet, Nicolas Jaar and The Pharcyde on the bill.

The second edition of the boutique desert festival Further Future is already packing one of the most intriguing line-ups in recent memory, with everyone from music-nerd favorite Nicolas Jaar and California hip-hop legends The Pharcyde, to Florida trance survivor Kimball Collins and Chicago house statesman Derrick Carter all on the bill. Now they've gone and tapped 90s electronica kingpins Leftfield for a slot at the event taking place April 29 - May 1 outside of Las Vegas.

For those who don't recall the early days of the UK's electronica scene, Leftfield were one of the headline-worthy acts (along with peers the Chemical Brothers, Orbital and Underworld) who took the music from underground raves to mainstream festivals. Their 1995 album, Leftism, is considered one of the seminal records in the world of progressive house—a sound that has come back into vogue lately, thanks in part to the melodic headiness of fellow FF performer and recent Resident Advisor Readers Poll three-peat champion Dixon.

With the exception of an overshadowed gig at Coachella in 2011 (where the Chems stole the old raver focus), this will be Leftfield's first US date in over 15 years. Check out this 2000 concert in all it's VHS glory to get a sample of a taste of what to expect.
