Optimo's Manzana Kicks Remix is a Rattling and Rumbling Roller

The record's been bigged up by everyone from Tim Sweeney to Dixon, Mister Saturday Night to Medlar.

Sometimes our readers come up to us in the street and say, "Hey, you're the guys from THUMP right? We love you!" Being bashful sorts, we normally blush and try and run away very quickly, but sometimes they corner us, ready to douse us with praise, to leave us sodden with adoration. "There's one thing wrong, though," they say, still smiling, "and that's this: sometimes you don't tell us enough about how records actually sound! We know, for example, that you're premiering the new Optimo remix of Irish producer Manzana Kicks' "Slow Train" which is released on Dublin label Bodytonic on April 15th. We know that the record's been bigged up by everyone from Tim Sweeney to Dixon, Mister Saturday Night to Medlar. We also know that it comes backed with not just this wonderful JD Twitch mix but a pair of re-rubs courtesy of the one and only Larry Heard in his Mr Fingers guise." They pause for a second, a rictus grin plastered on their face like Blair after a heavy session in the Sub Club. "And that's all well and good, but THUMP, tell us, what does it actually sound like?"

"Well, the Optimo dub of "Slow Train" by Manzana Kicks sounds like a deliciously dark, rattling and rumbling club roller that makes us think about Chris & Cosey and DJ Pierre and Norman Nodge. We like it. You'll like it too."

They loved it. Check it out for yourself below.
