"Coast Guard officials say the planned cruise has been halted as the ongoing search for the missing passenger continues," NBC Miami reports. The publication has a video segment with additional details here.

Shortly before 7PM EST last night, reports emerged of a female passenger of the Mad Decent Boat Party going overboard as the Norwegian cruise line's Pearl vessel crossed the Yucatan Channel during its voyage from Miami to Cozumel.

According to YourEDM, the ship was halted, the party was shut down, and all revelers on board were instructed to return to their rooms until further notice.

The Norwegian cruise line was quick to offer a statement, suggesting that the woman appeared to have jumped of her own accord: "On Thursday, Nov. 12, during a chartered cruise on Norwegian Pearl, a female guest was observed intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel. The ship's crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities. The search for the guest is ongoing. Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this difficult time."

The United States Coast Guard, for its part, issued a press release shortly thereafter, announcing that a search and rescue mission had been undertaken: "The Coast Guard is searching for an unidentified woman who fell from a cruise ship, Thursday, 22 nautical miles off the coast of Cuba. Watchstanders at Coast Guard 7th District command center received the initial report at approximately 7 p.m. from crew of the Norwegian Pearl stating that a woman had fallen from the deck of the ship. The Coast Guard Cutter Alligator and an aircrew aboard a C-130 from Air Station Clearwater are en route to assist in the search for the woman."

This morning, Mad Decent also issued a statement, explaining that the search was still under way: "Thursday, Nov. 12 during the chartered cruise on Norwegian Pearl, a female guest was observed intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel. The ship's crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities. The search for the guest is ongoing. Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this difficult time."

The four-day music event, which kicked off on November 11, had been slated to feature performances from A-Trak, Dillon Francis, Skrillex, and Major Lazer, among other artists.
