MIXED BY The Range

Rarely can I use the phrase "everything but the kitchen sink" and feel like it's anything more than a dumb music writing cliché, but this mix is straight up ripe bananas, so I'm going for it. Over the course of an hour The Range will take you from clicky techno to Atlantra strip club rap to smooth, funky jazz fusion and it's all threaded together with his own genre-defiant remixes and originals. Also, the kitchen sink might be in there somewhere.

The mix's otherwise unruly mash-up of distant genres and decades is unified by a penchant for charming melodies, lovely vocals, quirky percussion, and multiple instances of Amen jungle breaks (not mad). Most of you kids these days (here comes techno grandpa) have blinders on when it comes to anything made prior to last summer, so take note because this DJ has clearly done his homework and he's packing jams from the far reaches of the Youtube-o-sphere. Anybody remember The Books? Did you really just drop a Beach Boys acapella dude? Will you come play my house party?
