Carl Craig, Seth Troxler, and More Will Play Movement's Official Afterparties

Drumcode and Danny Tenaglia help make these nights as exciting as the main event.

The first batch of official Movement afterparties have been posted on the festival's webpage, with many more events circulating on the social medias these past days. It used to be that one could simply hit the ground in Detroit and go where the party takes you, but with so many events now selling out via pre-sale, the early bird now gets to do the worm. With that in mind, sooner than later is the name of the game when pre-planning your after parties.

Things kick off early with Danny Tenaglia playing the official opening party at Populux on Friday May 27. The New York house legend doesn't make it to the Midwest very often and house heads still speak in awe about his 2012 Movement boat party performance, so this kick-off event will either set the stage for the whole weekend, or make the following three days anticlimactic. It's well worth the risk.

Elsewhere over the weekend, a slew of beloved brands bring back their patented Detroit flavor, including Carl Craig's Detroit Love party with guests Seth Troxler and Dubfire, Kai Alce's eighth Deep Detroit soiree with Chez Damier and Alton Miller, and Interdimensional Transmissions' annual No Way Back warehouse party with New York promoters The Bunker, which—if you haven't been watching—has become a singular source for veteran Detroit talent having their "moment," with Mike Servito, Derek Plaslaiko, BMG, Erika, Carlos Souffront and Patrick Russell.

In addition to the Detroit natives, plenty of out-of-town imprints that have left significant marks on Movement's afterparty landscape return, including San Fran promoters DAX, who, working with local promoters My Baby, host their fourth OK, COOL party with Seth Troxler, The Black Madonna, Craig Richards, and Mood II Swing. Los Angeles techno mainstays Droid Behavior team up with Blank Code Records to deliver their fifth Interface | Scene party in the D with Perc, Kyle Gieger and Headless Horseman. Dirtybird will also offer their 10th annual Who's Afraid of Detroit throwdown with Justin Martin, J.Phlip, and Aldaran.

And of course, some new names are venturing into the late-night melee, backed by heavy-hitting DJ talent. Maceo Plex is bringing his Ellum label night to Movement for the first time and Adam Beyer's long-revered Drumcode imprint will also make its Detroit party debut. Plus, legendary Berlin techno club and label Tresor is throwing their first ever Detroit event at Movement 2016 with Moritz Von Oswald and Regis after a 25 years spiritual partnership with the Motor City.

And this is just a sample of the 50-plus events we'll likely see listed by the time Memorial Day comes around, in addition to the main event at Hart Plaza. Get geared up to stay up, again.

Movement Festival goes down May 28-30. Tickets to the main festival and afterparties are onsale now.
