2016 is already shaping up to be the year that NON Worldwide, fka NON Records, will dominate the globe. The label released EPs from the American singer and producer MHYSA in February and the Argentine producer Moro earlier in January, and has dropped mixes and singles by its ever-growing membership as recent as this past week. Now the label's spotlight has fallen on one of its most celebrated members, its co-founder.

This morning, the South African producer Antonio Valerio, aka ANGEL-HO, posted Emancipation to the NON Records's SoundCloud page, a collection of tracks they are calling "a 4-track bootleg package compiled with new tracks and collaborations by ANGEL-HO X Desire Marea." The rapid-fire production work never attempts to settle comfortably on the ears, but instead bursts with unshackled bravado and daringness. "I wanted to make tracks that became an emancipating, unifying experience for everyone listening," wrote the producer in the SoundCloud post. "It is for our relative black queer trans communities, I want us to exist without compromise and to be brave everyday."

Marea, who contributes vocals to two of the tracks, is a performance artist and one half of the Cape Town-based avant-dance duo FAKA, who previously appeared on the NON Records Compilation Vol 1. "In the song I chant the demands for money," Marea wrote in the post. "Money that belonged to ancestors who were oppressed, in the voices of the queer ancestors who had their names erased from history."

If you're going to be in Cape Town on March 16, Boiler Room will be hosting an event headlined by ANGEL-HO and including a line-up of some of the best talent coming out of the city, including White Nite, Fever Trails, and Jumping Back Slash, whose dark techno EP THUMP recently highlighted.

Listen to Emancipation below, which includes fantastically wild artwork by fellow NON member Chino Amobi.
